Facilitation, consultation and stakeholder dialogue

Many of our clients first get to know us through facilitation work. We have developed a strong track record in facilitation and stakeholder engagement for clients at national, regional and local level and, by choosing to specialise in the environmental sector, we are able to bring a high degree of content knowledge to our projects as well as proven process design and facilitation skills.

SE2 has fulfilled consultation requirements and carried out dialogues with stakeholders face-to-face, by telephone and online. Our strong process design skills – creating questionnaires, surveys and response mechanisms – are coupled with our ability to probe to the heart of an issue and to report an appropriate representation of the mix of views.

SE2 were the lead stakeholder engagement consultants on the Low Carbon Cities Programme (Carbon Trust and Energy Saving Trust). We worked closely with teams from Bristol, Leeds and Manchester to help accelerate their work towards citywide carbon reductions, and designed and coordinated a national conference for all eight English Core Cities. This work has been recognised as offering international leadership in collaborative working towards carbon reduction.

We have worked closely with Defra and the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes – and their key industry stakeholders - over the past three years to inform the evolution of the Energy Efficiency Commitment, the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target and the Supplier Obligation, key pillars in the drive to reduce household energy demand.

A number of local authorities have benefited from our facilitation skills – our workshops have helped them to develop climate change strategies, enhance partnership working and cross-sector activities and identify appropriate business models for energy services companies.

At a regional level, we have worked in partnership with Poldervaart Associates to convene and facilitate regular conferences and workshops for the English Government Offices, Regional Assemblies and Regional Development Agencies.

SE2’s facilitation services aim to create the platform for people to share their ideas, plan for change, agree or disagree – all in the interests of delivering sustainable futures. For more information about our work, please take a look at our case studies.
