Who we are
Liz and Rachael set up SE2 in 2004. We’re a small, friendly, focussed and flexible consultancy that helps communities and organisations – in both the private and public sectors – make a difference in the world of climate change. We undertake research and policy development, run workshops and events, and enable people to take action.
We’re not technical: we’re not engineers, architects or academics. But we do understand energy and the environment, and we understand the policy, market and grass-roots drivers that excite our sector. We know lots of people who are all doing their bit: our job is to bring them together - to build on and share the knowledge they already have and help them work together towards a common goal.
What we believe in
We’re very lucky at SE2 – we do a job we believe in and enjoy.
We bring energy, commitment and enthusiasm to every project we’re involved with. We think creatively, looking at an issue from all angles for a fresh approach. We innovate – but we’re also grounded in an understanding of structure, process and attention to detail.
We work hard to be our best for our clients: we want to exceed your expectations. We deliver projects on time and to budget, in partnership with you. With much of our work repeat-business, our client relations are positive, enjoyable and productive. We believe that together we can achieve great things!
Sustainability is at the heart of all our work. We’re very proud of our Environmental Policy: it’s been used London-wide as an example of small business best practice and we review it often to make sure it stays relevant. We’re always looking for ways to be better though: our annual Environmental Report keeps us on our toes, showing our current performance and sharing our actions and targets for the coming year.
Liz has worked within Government, shaping policy, and at the metaphorical coal-face, working with people and communities to shape very local responses to issues around climate change, energy efficiency, fuel poverty and social justice. The breadth of Liz’s work means that she is able to observe and understand the implications of policy at all levels.
With 20 years’ experience in the energy and environment sector, Liz has a strong track record in generating insights from research, building the capacity to respond to climate change and communicating sustainability in a clear and accessible way.
Climate change challenges us to engage and inspire people, to break old rules and make new ones, to listen to all ideas, to imagine the sort of world in which we would like to live and to take action to make that world real. Luckily, we love a challenge!
Rachael is passionate about helping householders, communities and organisations find real solutions for a sustainable future. She believes people are the key to change; it’s why SE2 focuses on organisational change and stakeholder dialogue, communicating the impacts of climate change and influencing what’s done about it.
With almost 30 years’ experience in the energy and environment sector, Rachael is universally recognised for her skills in stakeholder engagement, event design and project management. She was awarded an OBE for services to energy efficiency and inclusion and diversity in 2023.
To make a real impact, living and working in a sustainable way has to be easier than not. We need to limit people’s choice so sustainability is the only option. It’s good to know that SE2 is helping organisations with this shift.
